You're Invited!

The third annual Shot In The Dark Mysteries’ mystery film festival is here! Show us your Mystery Film Shorts in 10 minutes or less!

Mystery Film Festival and Competition

Welcome to the Third Annual film contest and festival from Shot In The Dark Mysteries and Cloak and Dagger Studio, focused solely on mystery, thriller and murder mystery films! Do you love Film Noir? Hitchcock? Who-dun-its? Or perhaps a bit of dark humour? This film festival has it all.

We launched the Mystery Film Festival at the start of 2020 and… well… we all know what happened next. That didn’t stop us though! Even though we couldn’t have the live Film Festival and Showcase, we still ran the Short Film Competition – and film makers from around the world blew us away with their ability to weave a compelling mystery in ten minutes or less.

Or, in some cases, just make us laugh.

Now that we are able to throw events again, we can’t wait to bring our vision for the world’s first Mystery Film Festival to life.

Only... Our First Live Film Festival Is Going To Be Something Extra Special!

Instead of just featuring our selections and, of course, revealing the winner from our 2022 submissions, we will be screening all of our selections, and highlighting the winners from All Three Years!

Get ready for lots of popcorn!

Plus, all of the films selected in the previous two years, whether they won the trophies previously or not, are eligible for a Brand New Award Category this year – Audience Favourite!

That means you, as an audience member, will get to vote on your favourite short film and potentially see your favourite film take home a sick trophy, not to mention the honour that comes along with winning accolades in an international film festival.

Our venue is the fantastic Revue Cinema on Roncesvalles in Toronto
– an intimate, classic cinema that has been our goal venue from the start.

September 10, 2022 from 4-9pm

Your $25 ticket will get you all access to the entire screening, as well as in and out privileges.

Get your tickets and join us in Toronto for a truly remarkable day of celebrating mystery short films and film makers!

And if you are a film maker with any work that could fit the criteria, you can submit your short film until September 1st here:
