The Halloween Howler

Witches are cackling
Bats are flying by
It’s bound to be a wild night
‘Cause someone’s gonna die…
You’re carving your Halloween pumpkin when The Invitation arrives and you breathe a sigh of relief. You’ve been worried you wouldn’t be invited to Maria Stratford’s annual Halloween Howler – the event of the year in your society circle. Not receiving an invitation signifies social demaise – a fate worse than death as far as you’re concerned. On the paper in impeccable calligraphy, Maria Stratford has included the costume you must wear on the night of the party. You dare not disobey, lest you suffer the same fate Samule did three years ago. He broke the rule and still suffers the consequences of being blacklisted from The Halloween Howler, poor git.
You put the invitation on your mantle, ensuring nothing else blocks the view of such an important piece of mail. With the knife back in your hand, you sink the blade through the flesh of the pumpkin, and wonder what tricks and treats await you on devil’s night…
Maria Stratford is hosting her annual Halloween Howler, the party her friends look forward to all year long and rave about for the rest of the year. Maria goes all out for the Halloween Howler, and her house is decorated to the max, including her front and back yard. Each person receives their costume ahead of time, and must come dressed as Maria decides lest her parties become an excuse for the women to wear lingerie in public. This is a rule no one dare break, ever since Halloween 2004, when Samule came dressed as a mummy instead of a satyr and did not receive another invitation for the next three years!
The party is just starting when Tim Plinsky is found dead in the mud room! The nicest guy in the group of friends, Tim is the last person anyone would kill – or so it seems. The police are extremely busy on Devil’s Night, leaving it up to the guests to put together the mystery until the police arrive! Who killed Tim Plinsky, and why?
